Ok, I just got a CH7 AM4 WIFI mobo w 32 gb of trident z rgb 3600 ram, nothing has changed from stock except CPB is diabled..well I tried overclocking ram to 3600 D.O.C.P AND I get a crash, tried a few times and it wont boot at 3600, so wat do I do get it to OC at 3600? Im using tridentz rgb 3600 F4-3600C18D-16GTZRX . highest I can get it w/ D.O.C.P is 3200, anything above it crashes

Solution
3200Mhz is still where a lot of Ryzen CPUs get too, even 2000 series from reviews I recall seeing. Some can get a bit higher though as I'm sure you've seen. Made any adjustments to SOC voltage? Added a bit of DRAM startup voltage? It's been awhile since I messed with Ryzen memory settings. Had a C6H and 1700, but ended up selling to a family member. Currently using a 2700X in another build of mine with 3200Mhz RAM. In that case, I just set the XMP/DOCP and that was it. Haven't tried going further.

no I haven't messed w SoC voltage yet . yea ive tried goin higher than 3200 w/ DOCP but crashes everytime
I would assume id had to put timings manually to get the 3600 or close to it

You've tried timing adjustments already? Have you looked at the custom profiles, (stilt, ect) in the memory submenus. I can't remember where, but there should be some profiles in the UEFI somewhere to try. The SOC and Boot Voltages are what I tried before, and even adding a bit more DRAM voltage can help. 1.4v should be fine if you wanted to try that.

ok, so I changed dram voltage to 1.4v and got the ram to 3333mhz, I haven't messed w timings yet . everything else is auto with all on auto , ive seen 4.35ghz at 1.4v w/ ram at 3333..ive tried higher, but crash everytime

well from wat I read online 1.2v is a safe cpu soc voltage? assuming that b true

I tried it at those settings and still can only get 3333, no higher..

yea its at stock , everything is stock, I actually put the ram at 3200 instead of 3333

it seems from my other R7 2700x , I have `, it will only reach 3200 too

well, from wat ive noticed w/ my research and study and hands-on exp w/ the new 2nd gen Rzyen CPU's, that marginal gains by OCing , is barely noticed , instead of stock performance. yes , w/ increasing ram to 3200 w/ everything else at stock ive noticed a better difference than OCing the cpu , so leaving it stock and OCing ram to 3200 , the gains in stability are better ive seen .. but that's just wat ive noticed, but like its said , every cpu is different w/ everything

I've read about the same regarding 2nd Gen Ryzen. Running my 2700X as I'm typing this, RAM at 3200 XMP settings, or DOCP in ASUS' UEFI. No need to really manual OC these, unless you need to have all cores maxed to 4.2ish. I never bothered trying go higher, as kit is rated at 3200, and it was kept from my previous Intel configuration in this PC. Outside of a few FPS, not much would be lost at 3200 vs 3600, but I know the feeling of not getting the full 3600. Even with that though, the manufacturer can't guarantee the rated speed, depends on your CPU's IMC. I don't really have any other ideas myself to help you to try and get higher frequency.

well, im just gonna stay at 3200, even though I can go 3333 so far, but 3200 seems better

Ok. Sounds good. You may be able to tighten the timings a bit at 3200 to boost performance a little. I did this with my previous X99 build, as my CPU couldn't reliably reach rated RAM frequency. I lowered that timings and ran at 2666. Kit had a 3000 profile, but with timing adjusted 2666 speed, I had higher bandwidth and scores in benchmarks.
