MB a88x-itx Asrock, usign APU, but same with card.
Tried with identical memory, same issue 4+4.
If memory is less than 4GB if uses only half.
On msconfig no ticked on maximum memory
Doesnt like to be booted with single memory.

Googled so much, no help. Is motherboard faulty?

Try updating the BIOS. Sounds like maybe it's a firmware issue, or it could be related to the controller, or ten other things. I'd start with the BIOS to make sure this isn't a known problem though. Might even be a memory vendor support issue, which again, might be addressed with a BIOS update. Using a single module, have you tried it in BOTH dimm slots?

Try updating to version 2.04 at the following link. Please note that there are 3 different options for each BIOS version. You can choose to update via Instant flash, update in DOS environment or update in Windows environment. Make sure to choose the correct download for the version you want to use. Instructions on how to update the BIOS is available on the same page.

No, sorry, that was a type. 2.4 is the version I meant. My bad on the typo. If you're already at that version then that isn't the issue. Perhaps one of those modules has issues. Have you tried to use both modules individually and in both slots?
