Hi,

I have had some problems with overclocking my E6400. I have 4gb's of DDR2 667mhz ram on a gigabyte ds3 motherboard.
My settings were as follows:

FSB:333
Multiplier: x8
System Memory Multiplier: 2.00
Memory Speed: 667mhz (according to MB)

I left all voltages at stock as this is a small overclock. According to my math, this is a 1:1 memory ratio. Upon reset the system failed to boot. I have no idea why, please help.

At the moment i am not playing around with any voltages. When i put the FSB up to 333 the ram speed goes to 667(stock speed) and thats with a 2x multiplier. There is no lower option. With these settings it fails to boot even though the ram is within spec. I will maybe try the voltages but when the ram speed is set to the motherboard [Auto] setting it bring it up to around 810 mhz. I have yet to try this, but does this ultimately mean i will have to overclock under 333 FSB?

With a 333FSB, you're making the Northbridge work harder. You and the processor may think that it's running at stock, but the NB isn't so happy about things and would probably want a bit more voltage.

I will try having a go at upping the RAM voltage and the northbridge. (or both)

Board: Giabyte 965P-DS3P
Memory: KVR667D2N5K2 2x1GB+2GB PC2-5300 CL5 no voltage recommendation. Its cheap crap value ram.

When the computer was first built it had 2gb of ram in dual channel. Some idiot decided to upgrade the computer by adding a single stick of 2gb ram. Oh well. Thanks for your help il be trying all of these things on Monday. Il keep you posted.
