I just bought 2 x 1024 mb @ 533mhz.

Before installing I had in my 4 slots 2 1024mb and on the other 2 I had a 512mb and a 256 mb card giving me a total of 2.75 gig ram.

I took out the 512 and the 256 and replaced them with the new 1024 mb cards.

When I right click on my computer and slect properties it still shows 2.75 GB ram.

When I click on the system Information it's showing total physical memory 4096.00 MB

what could be the problem?

Thats because that OS you are using does not support more than 3gigs of ram. Then some of it is probably being alocated for the video card. The only OS I have seen that supports 4gigs of ram would be Vista 64bit ver.

Why do you need 4gig's of ram anyway?

My wife bought me the memory for fathers day.

I'm also running 1 nvidia 8800 gtx.

Why would it say it total physical memory 4096mb on the system information screen? ( not doubting what ur sayign just want to learn why lol)

How do I find out if my system can hold vista 64 bit?

thanks alot for the reply and in advance :)
