Question Memory not Working w/MB

I'm building a PC for the first time...

Anyhow, I bought

CORSAIR Vengeance LPX 16GB (2 x 8GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 3000 (PC4 24000) Memory Kit Model CMK16GX4M2B3000C15

which is on the QVL list for my motherboard I also got which is

Asus X470-f gaming ..

It wouldn't post with the ram and indicated a problem with the ram so I borrowed my brother's DDR4 (2133mhz) and booted the PC and updated the BIOS to the it's current version which I hoped would fix the problem but didn't.

So, my question is, is the ram bad or the board just not cooperating? Should I get different ram and stay away from 3000mhz or what? I'm at a lost and with it being my first build I'm kind of annoyed as well.

There is no apparent reason for that memory to not work in your motherboard. Did you try your memory in your brother's system?

I have not yet. I'll give that a shot after work.
