Hi , ok so ive had my computer for awhile now with absolutely no issues with memory or anything really . Just did a windows update and now my PC will only recognize 8gb of memory when it should be 16 ? Has always read 16gb and never any issues . CPUID Recognizes the memory but task manager does not ? Ive tried the basic thing in msconfig to get it to work but with no luck . Any Ideas ? Only change was a windows update

Could be co-incidence.
CPU-ID will be reading the RAM SPD data via the SMBus.

This means the RAM is at least partially functional. (i.e the SMbus pins + power are connected in the RAM slot).

To start with I would open the box and re-seat the the RAM sticks a couple of times. This will clean up the connector & gold fingers on the sticks.
