Hello,

My current setting:

1x DDR3 4GB 1600mhz
1x DDR3 4GB 1600mhz

1x DDR3 4GB 1333mhz
1x DDR3 4GB 1333mhz

I have set my DRAM in BIOS to use 1600mhz instead of automatic. If I choose automatic it picks the lowest mhz available.

My question is; what will happen if i set it to 1600mhz like i did now? will it ignore the 1333mhz RAM modules and only use the ram modules that support 1600mhz?

what is your advice?

thx

When you mix memory it defaults to the speed of the slowest sticks. If you set it to 1600 then it will attempt to overclock the 1333 sticks. Not a great idea unless you know what you're doing. The 1333 modules may not even run at 1600 or they may have errors.

If you're lucky they will all work at 1333 with no errors. Mixing memory is always risky. It's sold in matched kits for a reason.
