Memory Question

Hi,

So I built a new budget gaming rig recently with these specs.

X2 3800+ AM2
Asus M2N-E (570 ultra chipset)
x1800xl 256mb
2x 512mb ddr2 @ 500mhz, Kingston Valueram....

I know the memory is slow. My first question is, does the slow memory really slow down this computer? Is an upgrade to ddr clocked at 800mhz worth it? My second question is, if I add 2 more sticks of 1 gig or 2 gigs of ram at 800 mhz, will it work properly or will they be downclocked to the same speeds of the 500mhz ones?

Anybody else, please correct me if i'm wrong....
#1:Not really sure if it slows down ur pc or not, but memory latencies/timings plays a role as well

#2:All that i know, when there is difference in memory speed (unless u tinkered with the settings), the speed would be reduced according to the one with less speed (please excuse me for my grammar if it's hard to understand)
