Memory question.

Hey guys,

i have a question regarding memory. i want to know what i would be better of doing. Should i use 16GB of DDR3 1600MHZ or 8GB of DDR3 1866MHZ? would i even notice a diffrence in the speed of the RAM and would 16GB help more for gaming?

Corsiar vengeance Blue 16GB Kit 1600MHZ

kingston Hyper-X T1 8GB Kit 1866MHZ


System Specs:

INTEL Core I3 2120 (will be upgrading to higher-end Ivy-Bridge)
Geforce GTX 260 (will be upgrading once i see what the 6XX series can do 😛)
Gigabyte GA-Z68X-UD5-B3
WD 1.5TB 5900K RPM
Thermaltake 750W SLI PSU
4GB DDR3 1600MHZ

Also what brand of RAM would you reccomend?

For gaming, the 8gb kit would be slightly faster, but only barely. I would go for the 16gb kit as you might only get about 1FPS more with the 1866, but the 16gb kit would give more for the OS to use.

Looks like a good system too! Would love to have it when you get that 6xx GPU and the IB. 😉

EDIT: Corsair, Patriot, G. SKill, Kingston, Crucial, PNY, and Mushkin are all great RAM makers!
