Memory Size Reporting

Hello,

I'm running and Asus M4A785TD-V EVO with 4GB memory in 2 sticks (Corsair TW3X4G1333C9A). I'm currently trying to test my memory to sort out a crashing problem I've been having.

In the middle of trying different slotting configurations the intermittant faults I was trying to trace seem to have stopped, _but_ MemTest86+ and Windows Resource Monitor are reporting 256M less memory than expected (each stick individually is showing 1792M and both together 3840M). On balance this doesn't look good to me, but I wanted to get another opinion. Is there a possible explanation for this?

The reason I asked for the BIOS version + CPU; Verify correct BIOS per CPU and pertinent BIOS fixes = good

Obviously DIMM slots to verify CPU: | A2 | B2 | A1 | B1 | ; Verify correct slots Dual Channel = good

Windows OS as stated above = good.

The Integrated ATI Radeon HD 4200 GPU seems to be using 256MB or 0.25GB RAM {H/W reserved = 258 MB total} The memory can be adjusted up to 512MB or 0.5GB, and the can be OC to 1000 MHz {default = 500 MHz}. However, I did not see in the manual a way to disable it IF you have a dedicated GPU; in general it 'might' be listed in the 'Onboard Devices Configuration' ; otherwise the onboard GPU can be disabled via the Device Manager.

BIOS:

I look at everything that you posted, and clearly the ANS is your Integrated ATI Radeon HD 4200 which 'shares' your DDR3 RAM.

Do you have a dedicated GPU?

Oops. Yes I do have a seperate GPU which I unplugged while I was testing. Of course your right about the onboard video, I really should have seen that one myself. Reconnected the graphics card and I'm back to normal. 😗

I have that same board with 4GB of ram, but it reports 3830MB as some of it is hardware reserved (onboard VGA etc). As Angharan1971 linked
