Question Memory Size VS Clock Speed (Core Clock)

I am looking for a budget gaming build for a friend's son, I have mainly everything chosen out but I'm trying to see which GPU would be best. XFX Radeon RX 580 8 GB GTS XXX ED Video Card, for this card it is 8 GB with a core clock of 1366 MHz (I don't care for overclocking). MSI GeForce GTX 1660 6 GB VENTUS XS OC Video Card, this one has 6 GB with a core clock of 1530 MHz. In regards of price, the XFX is $169.99 and the MSI is $214.99. If anyone can explain to me which is better, or maybe has another suggestion.
