[SOLVED] Memory Slots Specs

My motherboard specs for memory slots says "4 * 240-pin DDR2 DIMM slots Supports Dual Channel DDR2 DIMM 400/533 MHz non-ECC, un-buffered memory (Max 4gb)"

Does that mean 4gb max for all 4 slots combined, or each card can be 4gb max?

I feel ridiculous asking but it's an older motherboard and I'm not 100%.

Thank you.

Solution
it is indeed 4gb. Max memory per slot is 1gb sticks

most people back then only had 32bit systems, max ram windows would let you have is 3.5gb so no point having more
