I have a dual channel (2 DIMM) set of 1600 MHz hyperx beast and I went into task manager and cpuz and they both say it is running at 667 MHz. I have an AMD fx 8350 so I cannot enable XMP.

I went into the bios (on an MSI 970 Gaming motherboard) and changed the RAM speed to 1600MHz. I went into settings -> Save and exit, but a white box appeared at the bottom of the list of options and the BIOS became unresponsive. Everytime I try to do anything it now shows the same white box at the bottom and freezes. I can still boot to windows though.

Please can somebody help me get my memory to 1600 mhz (or hopefully even higher?) as it is slowing my whole pc down.

Solution
You should be able to use XMP profile with any of the AMD cpu's. Go back in the BIOS set the memory to XMP and if needed manually set the memory timings and speed accordingly. Windows task manager will always show the memory speed at 667 so you'll need to use CPUz to see the actually speed the memory is running at.

Oh I thought it was only for Intel CPUS. What timings do I need to set it to?
