memory speeds

I am upgrading my 64mb 333Mhz Celeron computer to 192mb. I'm not too sure what speed my memory is at the moment, I presume it is Pc100, but it could be PC66. My processor is running at 66Mhz, so can I stick in a PC100 or PC133 128mb chip? and therefore mix memory speeds?

cheers

Usually, it works, but in some rare cases, it doesn't when you mix DIMMS together.

some motherboards still require you to use the slower module in the first slot. Try it, memory is cheap. Or, just replace your memory with the faster stuff because it's so cheap right now.

Im not a techie type, but I would ask myself at least one question. Like, would I put a high performance fuel injector on a Yugo? Maybe I would if I had the budget and didnt mind experimenting. Personally, I would try and get the correct part for the job and be done with it. In other words I think you will be extremely happy with the PC66 memory.
As a side note: you probably would be fine with 64mb upgrade unless you have a specific app that you need 192mb to running; ie, W2K.
Good Luck!

I'm running Win2k with graphics programs, so its in need of a good size of memory, its really sluggish. I've ordered by 128mb PC133 chip, so its too late now! nah its should be fine, I've got an oldish motherboard, the 64mb chip i'm 99% sure its PC100, and as the other posts have said it hardly ever makes a difference, so time will tell. Wish me luck!
