recently added a 512 to my dell dimensions 2350, working great, can i replace the original 256 it came with, with another 512 and increase it's total to 1 gig

In 2013, you should be running 4gb or more. I'm amazed that desktops even work with 1gb. My eepc had 1gb, and I quickly upgraded it.

Just make sure you get the right RAM.
