I have a dell laptop d630 chipset pm965 that is from 2006. It is currently running a core duo

processor 2.2ghz, and memory 333mhz while running x86 platform. I have the laptop for school

but during my off time I'm alone with nothing to reward myself. I have The Sims, but while I was

playing the game a freeze occurred and I became disappointed in my systems lack of

performance. I looked into the graphics card that's running on the motherboard and it appears the

Quadro NVS 135m is a decent processor to watch movies on but lacks performance for gaming

purposes. I don't want to invest into another laptop if I don't have to. With use of Ntune drivers

what results am I to expect by running 800mhz ram instead of the current 333mhz? I know there is

a world of difference, but will this integration of memory with my GPU be worth the two hundred

dollars its going to cost for the upgrade? Should I consider less than 2x4GB of memory as a better

option?

*Note: After investigation I assume latency of memory should stay in the 7 range and be

un-buffered.

ha....well excuse me. It's a LATITUDE laptop. you could have typed that in 1 word versus telling me to answer the questions.

directly from the dell website.....

Max: 4GB4 DDR2 shared3 667MHz

again from just googling ''dell latitude d630 memory upgrade''

2x2 GB 667MHz DDR2-667 PC2-5300, 200p SODIMM, 1.8v

yeah...you're welcome.
just provide the model number of your laptop...no need for the giant wall of text.

If you're running windows 7 32-bit which is a good possibility (unless u verify otherwise) you cannot go past 4GB anyway. there is really no point to 8GB of memory even if you're 64-bit as the rest of your laptop is going to be the point of bottleneck not having more memory (8GB).

The laptop I have is capable of running what I say it is according to specifications recorded on my system with

cpu-z. The chipset is as you said capable of supporting 4GB of memory however, I have two slots for memory meaning

I am able to support up to 8GB of memory with my chipset. Dell offers 667mhz memory assuming there is no upgrade

to the original 32-bit system provided. I have upgraded from 32-64-bit system therefor I'm not limited to 4GB memory.

My 64-bit x86 platform will support large amounts of data far from typical usage. My concern still lies with the

integrated memory. If managing to upgrade my memory I will have opportunity to overclock dedicated 111MB of GPU

memory to 800mhz from its limited current 400mhz with Ntune (not recommended for novice users,) allowing

synchronization between integrated memory and dedicated memory for reasonable performance gain on this system.

Without any source for software to result current system performance due to lack of knowledge I am left without any

specifications to display current or future performance (Techs should really help advise with this.) I apologize for

the inaccuracy of my cpu-z. The true chipset is GM965 not PM965 thanks to crucial.com, please forgive my error. This

should help you better understand my situation.

I like your suggestion to utilize less memory. Would I consume current 1902mb RAM memory for the GPU after

upgrade? If so, would having 4GB leave me with practically 2GB memory after the fact? I see no use for extra memory

if what I'm going to use will suffice with program/game. Concerns still lie with performance gains. Will the cost of 100

dollars be worth the upgrade to 4GB @800mhz with Nvidia Quadro NVS 135m GPU (I can run 680mhz stable.) Should

I have high expectation?
