Hi,

I have an ASUS G751 with 8 gigs of RAM. I would like to upgrade it, but I ran into a problem.

The notebook has 4 slots, and a single 8GB module in slot #4. Only slot #1&2 are accessible from the back panel, and installing a module in #3 would void warranty. (Statement from Asus)

The pre installed module is a Hynix 1600Mhz 1.35v 8Gb stick (HMT41GS6BFR8A-PB).

I was thinking about buying this: G.SKILL Ripjaws Series Model F3-2133C11D-16GRSL
(and another set of when the warranty is up)

Would it work with the Ripjaws in slot #1&2, and the original in #4? (different channels)

I know mixing is not the best idea, but I really don't want to buy an 1600mhz set, and throw it out a year from now...

Thanks.

According to the asus forum people use 4x8 2133mhz successfully with late model G751, which mine is.

Running on 1600 would be fine and expected, I'm not worried about that. I've read that people had issues with mixed pairings, like one CL9 and one CL11 module on the same channel. Should I expect the same problems in the scenario I described above, even if the different modules are on a separate channel?
