Memory upgrade black screen on boot

Hello,

My friend just bought this ram CT8G4RFS4213 2x8GB for his motherboard, Asus H110M-A/M.2 He was told it would work. However after putting the ram in, he gets a black screen on boot. We have tried updating the bios, and manually setting the ram speed however its still booting to black screen. We cant even get into the bios. Any help much appreciated.

That is ECC registered according to this:

Thats what I thought, he was told ECC didn't matter.
