Hi, I've been looking for a RAM upgrade for my old Dell, I would like to know if this is a good upgrade or if I should get something else, this is what I found :

Solution
Are you trying to save a few bucks? How much if yes.
I found something interesting, but can not find detailed specs http://www.amazon.com/Upgrade-OptiPlex-System-PC2-6400-NON-ECC/dp/tech-data/B0049QL6OU/ref=de_a_smtd

OK, another search brought me to this model number Crucial CT901624 MB (649528155474) http://www.dealtime.com/crucial-technology-4gb-kit-2gbx2-upgrade-for-a-dell-optiplex-360-system-ddr2-pc2-6400-non-ecc/info?sb=1. Here Part Number: CT901624 from Crucial site, now 649528155474 is barcode (UPS, scannable in store), barcode got me those results
http://australia.buycheapr.com/us/result.jsp?q=649528155474&qs=ti

After this I really don't know what to advice. I understand that newegg might have something similar and cheap, but...
Unfortunately could not find anything better than this http://www.crucial.com/store/listparts.aspx?model=OptiPlex%20360&Cat=RAM

So, per Dell and Crucial:
Memory Type: DDR2 PC2-6400, DDR2 PC2-8500, DDR2 (non-ECC)
Maximum Memory: 4GB
Slots: 2

Not much users reported RAM upgrades...

Now the most important thing - Dell has problems with many RAM manufacturers, so if you want stability and working system Crucial is 99% guaranteed to work, other brands would or would not work!

Yes, 4 GB ( 2 x 2 GB) is the max configuration, you can also try this link: http://www.memorystock.com/memory/DellOptiPlex360.html

If the memory specs are correct, you can buy from any trusted vendor.

Good luck!

I have seen that memory of Crucial it has a CAS Latency of 6, but the one I found on Newegg has a CAS Latency of 5.

Isn't better lower CAS Latency?
That's the only thing they have different.

Unless you find your RAM elsewhere for cheap, this is the only 99% match memory.

I think I can not help you more.

Solution

Yes I'm trying to get the cheapest memory since DDR2 is more expensive than DDR3 and 4GB is not much of a great upgrade, so I think Newegg would be the best for me. Thank you for your assistant :).

Maybe you can try this website I found something around $53 for two modules. Just tryin to help - Click here!!
