Hi, I am considering buying Dell Precision 7730 and 7740 workstation laptops. However, I want to upgrade them with more RAM memory. Currently both of them have 16 gigs for ram running at 2667 shown in task manager area.
I read on Dell, that these can take ram sticks UpTo 3200. But the seller I am getting these laptops from said; We don't know why but even if you upgrade the RAM sticks that has 3200 speeds, still they will be downclocked to 2667.
At this point I have a few questions:
1. Is this bios problem.
2. Do these laptops take/accept only certain brand of RAM that would actually run at 3200?
I will appreciate responses if anybody here has had the same issue and successfully has figured it out.
Thanks to everybody who responded to my last post, I was actually surprised the prompt responses I got on my last post here.
Help Needed.
