So I upgraded my Acer 5810 laptop i5 running win 7 home premium 64 bit from 4GB of memory to 16GB of DDR3 1033 PC3 10600 (2x8GB). At first it would not boot, but the bios reported correct amount of memory, so I put the old memory back in and went to MConfig, advanced, boot tab and set the memory to 16256 (16,384 - 128 shared video= 16,256). Bios still reads correct amount of ram but system info says 16GB installed 2.0GB usable???? By the way is I uncheck the box in MSConfig windows will not boot is come to a bot in safe mode type screen with two choices none work until I put old memory in and go to MSConfig and check the box with specific memory amount.
