Current System:
ASROCK P45 turbotwins2000 LGA 775
Intel Q9550
Crucial Ballistix 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10600) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model BL2KIT25664BA1336
Crossfired Sapphire Radeon HD6970

Trying to get a little more life out of it and upgraded the RAM with:
Two sets (8GB) of G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10600) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model F3-10600CL9D-4GBPK

System became completely unstable with all 4 stick and just only 2 stick.

Any thoughts on why it wont work appreciated.

Solution
missed that "two sets" there in first post.
that would be odd if both G.Skill sets were faulty. that model gets great reviews.

had you...
lots of memory sets are not compatible. they are tested and packaged together for a reason, to ensure compatibility.

have tried 2 4GB sets of the same make/model and had them not cooperate with each other.
have also fixed other's same problem by simply removing one of the non-compatible sets.

if you problem persists after removing either 2x 2GB set then there is a slight possibility the memory controller was damaged. maybe by the mixing of sets or by one of the new memory sticks being bad and shorting something.

i don't get what you mean. one set would be either the Crucial Ballistix 4GB or the G.SKILL 4GB. the "set" would be both 2x 2GB sticks of same model memory from the same package.

you mean neither of these(Crucial nor G. Skill) work but you have a different "old memory" that still does work?

I have 3 sets of memory. ..2 GSKILL and 1 Crucial....Crucial works perfectly. ..GSKILL does not work when installed as a a pair (2) or as two pairs (4)

had you set the timings manually for your previous Crucials? if so, could be causing issue with the G.Skill.

if you can get into the BIOS with the G.Skill installed:
with one 4GB set at a time in DIMM slots 1 & 2 maybe try manually setting voltage, speed, and timings to the manufacturer stated specs.
Timing 9-9-9-24
Cas Latency 9
Voltage 1.5V – 1.65V
