I have been getting crashes lately with no error messages or logged in event viewer. I only crash few minutes in when gaming. On one game it will reboot and on the others it just freezes.
Coretemp cpu temp max 65
Msi afterburner GPU temp max 72

I ran memtest for 7 hours on a single 4gb stick and there were no errors, but when I attempted to run prime95 blend test it would crash and reboot within 30min, however I replaced it with a new 4gb ram stick (same model I was planning on upgrading to 8gb) and prime95 hasn't crashed in 5 hours.

Specs:
I5-3470 3.20ghz
4gb RAM
7970hd
Cx600

I'm hoping it is the ram stick but I'm not sure since it had no errors on memtest. Any input is appreciated.

Thank you.

Hello... 1) Try cleaning your ram sticks and other Hardware contacts ( in question ) with rubbing alcohol.
2) Check your Power Supply connections/pins to Your GPU, it needs >250 watts at 12VDC... thats like 21 amps of current!!! Small electrical wires and Pins/contacts all need to be clean/tight connections.
3) Make sure your GPU is properly inserted/centered, to the MB PCIe slot... And not Forced to a side when you screwed in the case Screws... Sometimes you have to bend the GPU mounting Flange/Tab for screw hole alignment.
4) Your GPU will be producing a lot of heat to everything around it... try a "Simple Test" without a side cover... for cooler temperatures in your case and MB.
I recently installed a new cx600 and 7970hd. It didn't have a gpu before so I never attempted to game on it so I wouldn't know if there was a problem before. I also tried swapping out the 7970 for a used 650ti and still same problem.

So far no crash on prime with the new ram stick...

What made you think it was memory?

I look at the hardware list you posted, and I see that Corsair CX unit. Which is known to have cheap quality parts in, and I suspect that. Normally they work well for a year or two, but anything can fail early, or almost never. I bring it up because power supplies are sorted into Tiers here on the Power Supply Listing, and that Corsair CX series is a Tier 4 unit. We do not recommend the use of any Tier 4 unit in a gaming system. In fact, we recommend that people only buy Tier 1 or 2 power supplies from that list.

Im not home now but will clean and use alcohol on ram when I get chance. I did unplug and plug everything, checked connections also used a can of compressed air duster to dust off the inside of the case and components.

Mobo is gigabyte b75m-d3h, unsure of bios right now but will check when I get home. And I planned on running furmark but after prime95 would crash I kind of got stuck on on that. I will definitely run furmark. I did boot from memtest but I didn't do it in safe mode I'm not sure if that makes big difference or not.

I originally thought it was psu and was going to return it but I didn't want to return it without ruling at least gpu out. I searched this forum and found a few posts which suggested to try to run prime95 with only one stick of ram at a time, and that's how I got this far. When I left home prime95 was going on 5.5 hours or so.

Thank you all for input and quick response. I will take the advice and do what you guys suggest when I get home.

Yea I did boot from usb, I'm not sure why I mentioned safe mode above I've just been doing a lot of searching threads and I think I got confused about what program I was talking about.
Also im going to go ahead and take the PSU back to store when I get home.

So I ran prime blend test for 26 hours without having crash. I then ran furmark for about 45min before it crashed and restarted at 1080 w 4x anti aliasing (not sure what setting I was suppose to use there)

I returned the cx600 and exchanged it for a cs550m. I couldn't afford anything on the tier 1 or 2 list so I chose the cs 550 which is on tier 3 list.
I'm about 30min in on furmark now hope this works.

People spend tons of money buying good hardware for their computer, and then go cheap on the most important piece of hardware in their system. The power supply. If boggles the mind.

As you have already seen, a cheap power supply will affect your entire system. We all live with budgets. Save up the money to get a Tier 1 or 2 power supply. They are competitively priced Tier 1 and 2 power supplies out there.

Furmark Standard stress test would be fine. How high are your temperatures of the CPU and gpu under load?

Check hdd/ssd with manufacturer's tool

Take some pictures of you system's hardware. Upload them to an image hosted and post the link of it.

Check your motherboard's CPU socket for bent pins

Run 3dmark basic edition (firestrike) and post the link which comes up at the end
