Question Memtest86 problem

This morning I downloaded memtest86 and installed it to a flash drive. I changed the BIOS to boot from the usb stick. When I turned on the computer again to run the program I got no video on the monitor. Now I can’t get the BIOS screen back up to change the boot sequence back again. It won’t even boot from the original install disk. Any suggestion?

• What method / program did you use to flash the memory stick ?
• What is your HW specs ?
• Was the computer unstable in the first place ?

HW: gigabyte z97 with latest bios. Intel 4770, samsung ssd 970, 32g crucial ballistic
System would randomly reboot on occasion

Random reboot problems combined by sudden boot problem make me think that motherboard failure is the most probably fault. But it can also be PSU.

Do you notice any beep sounds when you try to boot ?

No beeps when booting. This happened only after I changed the bios to boot from memory stick. The PSU fan runs and also the case fans I don’t see how changing the bios would kill a MB I also have a recovery memory stick that won’t boot either

Ok, then I recommend you to clear cmos on the MB. It may be a button or pin, you need to look up in the MB manual for excact location.

Thanks! That did the trick. Reset CMOS and reloaded BIOS defaults. Everything working.
