New build installed win10 fine at default settings but after enabling XMP started to experience BSOD etc. This continued even after I disabled XMP which lead to a lot of troubleshooting of the system. Ultimately I had to reset the CMOS after which the system would not even boot with XMP enabled with "overclocking failed" error. I used MSI Memory Try it! function and every single OC setting was unstable when performing the usual tests. Stock is 4800 cl36 and I cannot even run the 5200 cl38 profile. RAM is this: https://www.corsair.com/ww/en/p/mem...mt-s-cl36-memory-kit-black-cmh32gx5m2b6000c36
It is on the QVL list for my mobo.
With mobo optimized defaults and RAM at stock it passed all tests from within Windows, AIDA64, Prime95, 3dMark, memtest64. However, when I ran Memtest86 via USB boot drive it failed test 10 (at stock). Even single stick installs failed with around 880 errors per stick on test 10. All other tests passed.
The memory is brand new whereas the mobo and cpu are 2nd hand so I find it suspicious that this issue is caused by both RAM sticks being bad, I suspect a CPU memory controller or mobo issue but I am stumped as to how best to troubleshoot from here without new parts. I have ordered new RAM, which if it fails test 10 will clearly point to an issue with CPU or Mobo. I would rather not have to order a new CPU just to continue testing - surely in 2023 there is some way to test the CPU memory controller specifically?
CPU: i7-13700F
GPU: 4060
Mobo: MSI B760 Tomahawk Wifi DDR5
RAM: As above
PSU: Corsair Rm850e (2023)
