Question Merging game saves in BG3?

I thought that the Steam cloud would have me covered, but alas I have (1) save file which is the most current player character. I have several incremental backups which will get me a good portion of the way. How do I add (all or part of) those saves back while still preserving the one character save that is left?

Hopefully as easy as a copy and paste....?

Just a little further to say that I did attempt to look this up and am getting conflicting information as to whether it is possible to do so, or might lose one or the other of the important save files. Web search seems to indicate there are some nuances and was hoping to hear from someone who has tried to see what came of it and how.

Thx in advance.

theoreaticly possible ive done it with some others games you need to get to the save folder for bg3 which is under steam user data unfortunately the filles are numbered not by game which is a nightmare to figuire out lol.

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata.
  • The long string of numbers (e.g., 175896279) represents your unique Steam account ID.
  • AppID:
The shorter numbers (e.g., 7, 220, 240) represent the specific game's identification within the Steam store. You can find these AppIDs in the game's URL on the Steam store page. ( this helps figuire out what folder is what.

Unfortunately, it seems far too likely that I will bork the whole save file using this manner. I have, in the past, just used the "common" files location to do this but when I do so now it takes me back to a much later date in time that I want. Not really sure why since the save was done just before a reformat of the PC I am currently gaming on.

I have another PC here that also has the game and almost all of my character saves minus the last two, one of which I am actively trying my best to get through this damned game (lol). Knowing it is about 50/50 whether connecting it to the internet is going to restore much of my cloud save to what was expected, or changing it to what actually happened.

I appreciate the comments.
