Merging partitions, need help

So I installed Windows on a new SSD. I used to run the OS from a regular 1 TB hard drive with two partitions, one for the OS, a 250 gig one.

Now that I have a new primary, can anyone tell me how to merge the partition on the HDD without deleting any of my data? My disk manager image for reference : http://imgur.com/IYabi0a (Disk 2 is my SSD)

While we are here, any way I can change the disk order?

p.s. I would like to merge the partitions without installing additional software if possible. If it cannot be avoided, are there any free ones?

try this tool http://www.easeus.com/partition-manager-software/combine-partitions-windows-10-free.html
or, you can move the data to one of the partitions, delete the source and extend the target in windows disk manager.

I don't know what I did exactly but I ended up with this.....seems to work right now and despite being two partitions, it shows as one single drive in My Computer....

you converted the partitions to dynamic volumes.
It is logical, so underneath there are still two partitions with all limitations.
but i guess you wanted them to appear as a single partition in File Explorer for convenience

What do you mean limitations? I wont be able to store say...900 GB on that drive as they are actually two partitions?

you will not be able to store a single file that exceeding the free space of the physical partitions.
For example you have 20GB free on partition A and 30GB on partition B - you can not save file over 30 GB.
