Messed up pretty bad

So as you see by the title of this topic i messed up pretty bad in my eyes.
I am a complete noob at hardware stuff inside the computer so today i decided to look up how to add more ram so maybe i can learn a little more about my own laptop. So i followed the video, i opened the ram slot and i saw the two little prongs, and clicked both of the and the Ram stick popped up, i took out the ram and i layed it beside me. I was then really happy and completely nervous and i forgot how to put it in, so i just did it my own way. I remembered from the video the guy told me to put the ram in a 45% angle and match the notch with the little thing that sticked out, i did that and then i also remembered that he said to push it down with a little force until you hear a click, will, i heard the click but when i put everything back together and turned on my laptop my ram went down from 6gb to 4gb. I don't know what to do guys. My laptop is a Hp envy m6 1105dx with windows 8. I am really nervous about the whole situation.

To my knowledge, there are no single 6GB RAM modules. If you only had one RAM Module installed in your laptop, it likely only ever had 4GB of RAM.

Check your specs, may well have a stick of dram installed or soldered in elsewhere, try pulling the stick again and see if system boots with out it, if so find out how much is hidded, then reinstall the stick you took out, make sure it clicks in and the two little snaps latch on
