HI all. I am not sure if "Storage" is the right category, but since defragmentation caused the problem I think it's the right category.

So, I have old and slow PC and I tried to revive the speed by defragmenting D:\ (where the games, movies and etc are). When defragging completed I started it on C:\ (where are the Windows, programs and etc), but after 1-2 minutes the electricity shut off. When it came back I didn't start the defragging again and left it that way. After that the system was okay.

Next day I turned on the PC and it was all messed up. There were several missing or corrupted .dll files and I received many of those: "cryptnet dll is not a valid windows image"; "hhctrl.ocx is not a valid image"; "ddraw.dll is not a valid Windows image" and some other, and when I try to run games (pirate versions ;/ and original from steam): "d3d8thk.dll is not a valid Windows image..."; or "Failed to load steamui.dll".

My browser (Google Chrome) is also kinda corrupted (Shockwave and other stuff). Overall the whole system is corrupted. After opening My Computer it searches for files and after 10 seconds it shows the icons (D: C: and other), but rearranged. Games don't start, apps don't start, the browser works by magic and I don't have an idea what to do.

Other info: Direct X is up to date, the OS is Windows XP 32 sp3 and I don't have backup.

I know that installing Windows anew would solve the problem ;d but if there is any way to fix that without losing data I would be very happy.

Sorry for my english if there are any mistakes.

So many issues on such an old system would normally point to a required reinstall of windows. Since you are using illegal pirated versions of some software, it is the policy of these forums not to assist further. A moderator needs to close this thread.
