Question Messenger messages aren't showing

So I had this issue for a while now but its getting annoying that messages aren't being sent/received and either party doesn't see it thinking neither messaged.
I'm not entirely sure how often it is for the other person, but for me it happens alot.


I know the issue ALWAYS occurs when I uninstall the app and reinstall it. For example I can uninstall now, they send a message, 2 hours later I reinstall and don't receive it. This is WITHOUT using the back up pin to restore old messages that I keep getting prompted. It shows messages from a year ago. Then when I use the back up pin, it shows last message I sent BEFORE I uninstalled. This means the message they sent between is completely lost. I can't even view via Facebook because it keeps asking for messenger regardless if I use the app or browser.

Any solutions would be helpful thanks.

haha yeah i could do that but it also occurred during an account switch. Either way, its inconvenient when i have to log in without my phone and send a message from pc or vice versa as the messages arent synced and missing

no, i tried and it shows last year messages, but when i use pin, it shows recent messages this month but not the ones they sent recently when the app was uninstalled
