Hey guys. I have been looking around to find some video to the "best" method of applying thermal adhesive to my components.

I am trying to re-do all the passive coolers on my mobo and also the coolers on my GFX's memory chips.

Before i start to do so, i could really use some advise on
1) how much needed to be applied
2) danger zone and "DO NOT APPLY" areas.
3) wait time

Thanx a lot for your time in this! Waiting to get your responses.

Solution

Those are the two MOSFET heatsinks. They should both have a self-adhesive thermal transfer pad/strip on them.

How were they compromised? Are the spring loaded mounting pins broken? If it's just the self-adhesive thermal transfer pad/strip that needs to be replaced you can buy those. They come in various thicknesses so you need to get the correct one.

Just Google on "Thermal Conductive Adhesive Tape" and find a seller in your country.

thanx, i'll google it in the morning.
The tapes have been compromised due to the spare air cooling for my CPU. I had the corsair H80 which stopped working and is now being returned back to shop. so because i didnt keep the original intel air cooler, i bought one that has those old types of "strap in" coolers. and the clipping part doesnt fit due to the side mobo passive cooler. And so with a push and a nudge and my tough luck along with that #$^@#%&ing clip, i moved the passive cooling so much, part of the adhesive fell off on the side!

And also i saw that the adhesive was really dry. like "chip apart" dry.
So the product that i bought is no good? and i need to get tapes? what did i buy??? 😛 hehehe

Ok thanx, also i read the online manual from arctic on how to apply the adhesive.
It sais that in order to protect the chip, it is a good idea to apply non toxic silicon on the metalic connection. Is that advisable?! and also, should i remove it afterwards?
