Here are my specs:
i7-5820k @ 4.5Ghz 1.3V (Tested with 7 hours of AIDA 64 Extreme Stability Test)
GTX Titan X (+198Mhz Core +498Mhz Memory, tested with 100mins of Firestrike Ultra and multiple reruns of Heaven and Valley)
16GB Kingston 2666Mhz DDR4 RAM
Corsair H100i CPU cooler
HX1000i 80+ Corsair Power Supply (1000W)

So far my overclock has been looking quite stable after the tests I ran them through, now I've been having problems running Metro 2033 Redux. It gets through the first little movie, so no problem with the legal.ogv file, but I have been monitoring the game sessions of Metro 2033 Redux, what I can't work out is that I'm getting really bad FPS at like low 20's FPS, below at times. Using Rivatuner to keep stats on GPU and CPU usage, it only indicated a 35% use of GPU on average and low 20's to 30's for the CPU usage on average, the GPU average is the one I find most weird.

And then it will randomly crash after around 5 minutes, no driver errors, computer doesn't freeze, it just goes back to desktop and all is normal.

The settings I was running at:
Very High
No AA
3840x2160
High Tesselation
Advanced PhysX on

Please let me know if there is anything other info you need, but I was hoping to diagnose the problem here. I'm thinking and hoping its the game's optimization, but I'd like to know for sure. I will just test on Stock settings after this post, will let you know result of that.

Thanks for reading, hope you can help!

Ok just an update, it HAS to be the game, running at Stock settings, still crashes after 5 minutes without fail. Its the level Defense. I think Ill contact 4A games about the problem I'm having.

I suggest you set everything to stock... What brand Titan X are you using?

I play this game with my ROG Swift at 1440p with a 4970k and the Asus Titan X and it's perfect...

Its a gigabyte version, I did set it to stock settings including my CPU and yea it still crashed. I sent a message to 4A Games to see what they would say.

I suggest you send it back and get an Asus model.

What is your Asic quality.

You can check in gpuz

Personally I think sending it back is quite drastic, especially considering that getting an ASUS model wouldnt change how the card works or anything like that cause all Titan X's (right now anyway) are reference models from NVIDIA with branding on them. Also in Australia at least where I am, I dont see any ASUS one's anywhere cause if I did I wouldve got that one :)
Also I the game might still be at fault here, we're playing at different resolutions on different chipsets, so yours with the Devils Canyon might be more optimized than my X99 setup (for whatever reason). I will check on things and test out many other games first before determining whether the graphics card is at fault. Which at least right now, its doing an amazing job at eveything else

Oh yea it played well on that level. No crashes or anything...this is the only level so far where I've experienced this.

There are certainly more demanding parts in the game... The parts with lots of Phys X are most demanding...
The Bottom line is your FPS should be similar to the video. When there is a lot going with Phys X you might get some significant dips once in a while however nothing major and your game shouldn't just stop. This could be a video card issue....

Well, I played fine this morning got through the level, it was at 85C when playing, hotter than I've seen on any game so far, but the temp limit is 91C and the Titan X can run hot. If I experience any higher temps, I will raise the fan speed up, in fact I will soon, cause that was a little hotter than I'd like it to be. Now that many other games have been installed I'll try out other games ASAP and see if I experience any issues with those. Howvever I'm going to spend a couple of days with family, so Ill check things out when I can.

Ok then, yea my bad, anyone got any figues on whats some safe VRM temps for the Titan X? Ive been looking around can't see any good figures. So I can refer back to this thread when I get back home.

EDIT:
I just saw Guru 3D's Titan X review, it has VRM's at 87C at load. So my question now is what should be my max VRM Temp?

Ok, just so this particular question is solved, I actually did find out the problem, it was a too high of a memory overclock. For some reason +498 Mhz on the memory works for the benchmarks even if you do 3Dmark Ultra for 100 mins straight, but not Metro 2033 Redux. I've got my memory at around +400Mhz now, everything running smooth including Metro 2033 Redux at an avg of 48-50fps. Thanks for all your suggestions.

Below is your reply from before - did you forget to lower the memory then?

Its a gigabyte version, I did set it to stock settings including my CPU and yea it still crashed. I sent a message to 4A Games to see what they would say.

No, I ran it at stock settings then, idk its kind of a mystery for that onw but I turned down my OC a little bit and it now works perfectly since turning it down a little so I think I just had the GPU memory clocked little too high.

I am having this same exact problem on my machine. The only thing is that I'm not overclocking anything.

I am running a 4770K on a Asus Maximus VI Formula and an Asus Titan X with Win 8.1 Pro. I am trying to play on the Defense level. I'm in the section right after the immediate fight where there are many fires and smoke in the tunnel. I have tried many times to get through this section, but it always crashes here after some random amount of time. I've tried restarting. Graphics drivers are latest nVidia has available.

Until this level, the game never crashed not even once.

Alright then,
Try rolling back the driver, and see if it works. Also does it crash suddenly or do you notice a distinct drop in FPS before it crashes? In mine there was always a distinct drop in FPS before the crash would happen.
If its crashing out right, see if anybody has been having that problem with stock settings.

And if you've got it on a custom fan profile, maybe try set it to the stock fan profile or perhaps run the fan really high (at 80-90%) to see if anything is overheating. I'm not entirely sure why you'd be having that problem anyway.
Good luck and try to eliminate as many variables as possible. And when or if you get it working, enjoy it, its a great game :)
Also perhaps start a new thread, you might get answers quicker as this is a solved thread.
