hello people, I'm at a loss here!

right so I'm struggling to run metro last light redux on my PC, all I seem to get is stuttering and eventual crashes (especially on cutscenes). with my build this should not be an issue:

  • i7 7700k
    16gb 3000mhz ddr4
    Evga gtx1080 sc
    2x 500 ssd.
    predator 144hz 1080p monitor

Now im aware that this game has a reputation for tanking (depending on the settings used) but the stuttering is unbearable. what I've tried:

Turned off: SSAA, Tessalation and Vsync.

Altered monitors refresh rate from 144hz (which I understand the A4 engine prefers 60hz) to 60hz

I have looked at guides which advised me to disable anisotropic filtering and to set prerendered frames to 4 (global setting 1 usually) all done via Nvidia control panel.

I've tinkered with all of the annoyingly few graphics settings in game but this stuttering just seems prevalent.

I have seen some reporting that changing DirectX settings help but I've not done this yet.

At this point im just curious of anyone else's experience or even remedies they found.

cheers guys!

You're correct, your system should run that game like a dream.
Does this only effect this one game or re others just as bad?
Do you have any other software running while gaming? Streaming gameplay on a 4 core CPU will have significant issues for example.
Are all the drivers up-to-date?
What are the system temperatures while gaming?
While it shouldn't have much of an effect, try disabling PhysX, it's under the Game, not Video tab.

hey, coozie7 thanks for the reply!

This is the only game I've experienced this with, I've run older titles and newer titles without no issue... even ran stalker and that ran even smoother considering its qwerky nature!

once running I don't have any other softwares running but I do have bull guard anti-malware software which has a built-in feature stopping rogue programs from impacting performance. not sure if that would ironically impact the performance.

I have checked all drivers and confirmed steam files but nothing out of the ordinary.

The temperature goes no higher than 50C according to evga precise.

I have disabled PhysX as I noticed how badly that tanks the system

UPDATE:

ironically! the BullGuard game booster optimiser was the issue. i have just disabled the game boost for the game and it went from a horrid jumpy game to a butter smooth one. I did not think that something which is there to aid in performance would cause the actual issue.

but alas it is working! Thank you coozie7 for the speedy reply... Feel like a dip now for not trying it sooner.
