I just bought a Asus MG28U monitor from Micro Center yesterday (open box sale) and the monitor came disassembled in a janky box. The box only came with the essentials and by the time I got home, I realized it didn't come with the screw required to attach the base plate to the monitor arm.

This is the base plate with the screw (from the view of underneath)

Does anyone know where I can find a screw like this? I've already contacted Micro Center (they will just give me a refund - which I don't want to do since I got a great deal on this monitor), and I contacted Asus to see if they had any extra screws they could send me (of course they were not helpful). My other thought was to go to Best Buy or somewhere and uh, 'borrow' a screw from one on display, but that would be rare to find a MG28U on display probably.

Help, I really don't want to have to use VESA with this monitor 🙁

You may have to use a VESA mount if the monitor wont stay up properly on its current base and you can get a screw, I would take an identical screw and go to a hardware store and try and find one.

Wait, you're saying hardware stores let you try out their screws if you need to? Do they have like boxes of them or something? Are they packaged in bags or just laying about for you to grab? And would they have anything that looks like the photo I put in my question?

I highly doubt they would have one like that, but I'm sure they would have one with the same threading and length that you could add a washer or something onto to make it work. Just make sure the screw missing is the same as the one shown. It would most likely be easier to do this than trying to get the actual screw.
