MHWorld 100% cpu usage

Hello everyone, I noticed while playing Monster Hunter World at 1440p 60Fps with an i5 8500 and a gtx 1080 that my cpu usage is always arround 100%.
I get my 60fps constantly ,( i can get to 70 but my screen is 60Hz),so it doesn't bother me that much but i don't recall i had the same usages a few weeks ago.
Do you think that cpu usage is ok ?
I know that MHW is a cpu intensive game but still i didn't expect that much of a bottleneck (gpu usage doesn't go higher than 20%) .

Solution

The task manager drains a little performance and can have a peak when being opened, but don't use to show false info. You can install Rivatuner + MSi Afterburner to show on screen while playing your GPU and CPU usages, temperatures and fan speeds in real time. That's the most trustworthy way to check what's going on.

Maybe they messed up something with an update. Or maybe there's other program drawing CPU usage. You can limit FPS to 60 with Rivatuner or VSync and check if the CPU remains at 100%. If it remains, there's other program pushing the CPU. If not, you can anyway limit FPS with Rivatuner to reduce CPU and GPU usage and improve your temperatures.

Thank you for replying that fast =D

When locked at 60 fps it's the same ( I guess nvidia adaptative sync locked my fps already )

honestly i'm not so sure i had this cpu usage a few weeks ago so i can't tell weither it's because of a patch or smthg.

A thing I also don't undrstand is when i look at benchmark at 1440p my gpu should be struggling to keep at least 45fps : https://i.imgur.com/2EUArhM.png (1440p)
but task manager tells me it doesn't go higher than 20%, howerver gpu z indicates after a 2 hours game session my gpu max temp is 71°C, average temp is arround 65°C and gpu utilization got to 100% so I don't really know what is happening with my computer ^^
(I just built it and i'm kinda nervous with those usages and temps x) )

Also I'm 100% sure nothing is drawing more than 10 percents cpu usage since this kinda thing only happens when playing MHW,
for example in the witcher 3 I get as expected 70fps at 1440p with my gpu being the limiting factor

I tkink the problem here is my task manager : it says gpu 4% cpu 90% while another software says 55% for both

Edit : After 20 minute in game it gives me that :

I find it more logical at least ^^

If the game isn't running windowed or borderless it will stop rendering as soon as you switch to the desktop to watch the task manager, so the GPU usage will be near zero.

The CPU utilization feels really high, yes, according to this tests your 8500 should be kinda relaxed:

Maybe there's something which really stresses the CPU at higher resolutions. You can try again to lock to 60FPS and put the game at 1080p resolution. If the CPU indeed gets relaxed there's something charging the CPU at higher resolutions.

Oh .. ok dindn't know about that with gpu's ^^

At 1080p, cpu usage remains the same : task manager still says 90% and gigabyte software says 50-ish % and according to gpu z my temps are ok (60 - 65° max)

could the task manager be giving false infos on my cpu ?

Well I still haven't tried it with msi after burner (can't figure out how this works, will try that later ^^) but the gigabyte Xtreme utility shows gpu 90% and cpu 55% wich is way more logical according to benchmarks.

though I don't know why cpu usage was at 100% in task manager (it shows constant 100% and not just right at the time I alt tab to look at it but 60 seconds in the past aswell.

I will try with msi afterburner also to make sure but it appears the problem isn't the cpu bottleneck I feared but more of a task manager singularity.

Sorry for the disturbance and thank you for replying that fast =D
