As I'm still looking around to find the RAM following this spreadsheet: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B5ePJLHhrAUMZFBnc05TLUZMYzg/view

It seems impossible to find the yellow colored ratio ones, as they are always out of stock.
eg:
- DDR4 2133 with CL 12
- DDR4 2400 with CL 12
- DDR4 2666 with CL 13
- DDR4 2800, 2933 & 3000 with CL14
- DDR4 3200 with CL 15
- DDR4 3333 and 3400 with CL 16

Those mentioned above seems to be impossible to come across unless you want to wait weeks, if not months. (very limited in my country)

My question is: does it really matter much the ratio between CL and Frequency is? Can't I just buy any DDR4 of 2666Mhz without concerning about the CL? Will I notice a difference?

I am planning to overclock the CPU from 4.0 Ghz to 4.6Ghz using the 5-way optimization software provided by ASUS with their new motherboard the Z170 series. Not sure if this would OC my RAM automatically aswel.

Cheers

DRAM is rather independent of the OC on the CPU, a good K model 6600 or 6700 can run up to 3000 or better with no OC on the CPU at all (I've got a 6600K and it takes 3000 (2x8GB at stock. My 3200 set (32GB) requires some manipulation of a CPU OC and/or voltage adjustments

How much DRAM are you looking for (2x8GB, 4x8GB.....) that can also affect the available CL that's out there. If say 2x8GB might look at the Trident Z from GSkill 3200/16, 3000/15 or their Ripjaws V at 3000/15 (great set, I have these as well as a set of the 32GB 4x8GB Trident Z in 3200/16) for my 6600K/Hero)

I'm looking at 2 x 8GB DDR4 and preferably red color to match my work of art :)

I'm just stuck at the RAM.. If I want to go 3200Mhz or beyond with decent CL (15 or 16) it costs above 200 dollars, which is a bit overkill.. So I'm worrying what RAM I should take as the ones I'm looking for perfect Mhz/CL ratio is never in stock anywhere, except a 3400Mhz with CL 16, which has THE perfect ratio but costs about 300dollars (2x8GB)..

I see your sticks have the ratio one tod above the perfect ratio, so I guess I dont need the perfect ratio..

Ye, going for a 6700-K myself, whenever they're back in stock that is (LOL)...

Yep, you have to pay to play with the high performance sticks. I think we'll see more down the road a bit. I had the mobo and CPU a good month, just sitting, waiting for GSkill to release the Trident Z line, then had what looked like a day and a half off coming up so went ahead and ordered the 2x8 RJ V set, and sure enough, they released the Tri Z sticks a couple days later, so have both to play with now 😉 . Have been playing with GPUs and CPU coolers

So, which one should I take considering I love red to fit my set more (custom red PSU cables, corsair AF140 red rings x 3 etc etc) while keeping in mind to have good performance and fitting on a Z170/ 6700-K set (XMP)

Might take another month or more, the i7 6700-K is preld out anywhere in Belgium or they're making you buy different stuff with it to get the CPU.

Intel seems to struggle with the high demand.. I take that as a good sign, CPU will be solid I guess?
