Hello,
The static you hear is a distortion. Try to lower the level of the microphone way down, and raise the master volume of the computer up. Look at your lower right hand desktop, double click click on the speaker icon. This brings up the audio controls, you should find the mic level, etc.
If your mic input on your computer is 'mono'. the only way to get a stereo mic to work would be by plugging it into the Line In input of your sound card. Then select 'Line In' as your default device and check the 'Listen to this device' box in Listen.
Make sure it is not muted in 'Levels' and say "Testing, one, two, three."
I tried your method by plugging in it into the line in jack and it still didn't work. I had a sound Blaster Wifi Go pro card laying around and I plugged that in/Installed it and the mic audio is perfectly clear. However I still want to figure out how can i fix this on realtek side.My motherboard is Rampage V Extreme by Asus. Is there anyway you would be able to tell anything else? I appreciate for all the help.
Hmmm you may try the following;
- Install/update the latest Realtek drivers and reboot
- Go to C:\Program Files\Realtek\InstallShield and Locate the program MicCal.exe and execute it
>> 1st window : Click Next
>> 2nd window: Select the recording device
>> 3rd window : Try speaking and almost no sound will get thru the VU-Meter. Now move the slider left to 0% then back to 100%. Click next.
>> 4th window : It will ask you to read a sentence after clicking the "Record" button. Read the sentence and you might receive an error message. Don't mind it and click the "Cancel" button.
This procedure should reset your microphone settings back to a decent recording volume. You may try as well to perform a windows update as they may be a latest update provided by Microsoft for your audio drivers.
