My friends ear my audio from my headset over my voice while I talk through my microphone in game. They often complain to turn of my stereo and to use headphones, while I already have headphones plugged in. It even occurs when my audio is completely off. How can I stop my microphone from inputting the audio sound from my headset? Thanks. My microphone by the way is a NEEWER 800. I have no drivers installed I simply plugged in and played, there were no drivers instructed to install.

Google TR, TRS, and TRRS. (Tip, Ring, Sleeve). Especially with respect to 1/8" (3.5 mm) plugs and sockets.

What you will see is that, despite some standards, there is some variation of the electrical connections involved; i.e., "pinouts".

Either the mute switch is not working as it should or there is an electrical short allowing your stereo sound to get into the microphone's circuits. Mute switch or no.

Try some other microphones, headsets, or combination sets to see if the problem continues.

How loud is the audio? It could simply be the microphone picking up headphone sounds.

Or it could be some electrical short in the headset allowing audio to feed into the microhone.

You can do a couple of things:

Start by trying other headsets and microphones on your system. See if the problem continues. Likewise try your headset and microphones on another computer. See if the problem follows the headsets or stays with the original computer.

Right click the speaker icon. Go into Playback devices and Recording devices. Drill down through the various tabs and properties.

Look for settings that affect headphones and microphones. Try some adjustments but only one at a time. Keep notes so you can reverse a change if necessary.

However, if the problem occurs with "audio off" then that switch may not be working.

Thanks but the speaker thing inst the problem. As I said I have tested it by putting my volume on my headset on mute and my friends still told me they heard the audio.

How are you doing the mute? The mute icon on a computer or some mechanical switch? A software mute is different from a hardware mute.

Can you go into Recording device and disable your microphone? Do your friends still hear your audio?

The objective is to identify a specific set of circumstances that you can create at will to cause the problem.

No it is a hardware mute, I have tried playing around with the settings and was unable to find anything that can turn of the game volume. I have even tested it with listening to my voice through the mic playback. I had headphones on with very low volume, impossible for the mic to pick it up.
