Question Mic isn't being detected by apps

So I recently built my new PC and now after a few days I have noticed a problem: my mic input is not being detected by any apps (discord, OBS, etc.) but when I go into sounds>recording and check the "listen to this device" box I can clearly hear that the sound is being detected in Windows. Drivers have been updated to the latest ones but the problem persists. Any suggestions on how to fix this?

Make and model mic/headset?

Do you have another known working mic/headset that you can try?

Drivers: are the driver's from the mic/headset manufacturer or from Microsoft?

Have you tried running the built-in Windows Troubleshooters?

Check inside the case to verify that all audio connections are fully and firmly in place.

Don't remember make and model of headphones.
Other headphones behaved in the same manner.
They were Realtek audio drivers.
Troubleshooters did nothing.
They are.

Anyways, since I couldn't figure out what was the cause of this I just reinstalled Windows and now it's working as it should have.
