Mic not working after launching anything

3,5mm mic's, usb mic's count em' up NOTHING WORKS.
launch google chrome, doesnt pick up audio.
Launch skype, doesnt pick up audio, FUCKING SKYPE.
msi 970a-g43 motherboard
if it's mobo related...

Well the Snowball works fine on other computer's as well as my kraken headset.
the audio is fine and it doesnt dissapear but the mic just stops, the longest i waited for it to work again was a hour.
