So, today I we're gonna go on skype on a friend, instantly whenc alling he complained that it sounded like someone shoved up a drill inside his ear.
I went on steam sound test and all I heard was :
BZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ
Static/buzzing noise.

I tried reinstalling realtek HD audio drivers which didn't work.
Unplugging and plugging in the mic didn't work either.
Changing mic boost settings didn't work either...

I'm out of ideas. Isn't first time this is happening. Last 2 times it fixed by itself.

The mic is not a USB mic, it is plugged in to the front of the pc using the mic and headset ports.
The sound however is working fine.

Edit : Mic works perfect in my mac when using some kind of turn 2 cables into 1 thing. The mic does pick up sounds but it seems to be losing pretty much 99% of it's quality on it's way into the speakers/headset.

Solution

Totally forgot about this post, but the problem turned out to be the cable going into the headset. Since if I pressed it in, the mic started working until I released it again.
Could you please specify your full system specs? Do include your headset/mic/audio equipment so we get a total picture to troubleshoot with. Does the audio connectors on your mic and head[hone have 3 bands/rings or two?

Have you tried using another set of analog headsets to rule out your audio ports aren't damaged or disabled due to a driver error/conflict? Is this a clean installation of Windows 10 or an upgrade from prior OS?

Solution
Glad to know the issue is resolved! In most cases the wires are the culprit but then again you'll need to do a whole lot of troubleshooting to figure out if one of the multiple factors is the responsible party. I've selected your post as the solution since you can't select your own post for a solution. I'm also closing this thread since your query has been met.

In case you'd like it reopened, PM me.
