Mic problem with Roccat Kave headset

hey there

so recently i bought asus xonar dg with roccat kave headset. i got them today and tried to install and use. i hae installed asus drivers and sound is working fine. but im unable to make microphone work. kave headset came with 4 jacks and 1 usb. 2 of jacks are orange which suppose to be one orange one pink. i tried both in cables in yellow and pink but still mic dosent work. mic is not muted because mic light suppose to lit when u mute. sound is working fine only problem is mic. cant make it work. on windows 7 sound options asus xonar is default mic. sitll not working any help please?

its possible ur mic is bunk. consider an rma.

What OS are you using?
My Roccat Kave worked perfectly fine under Windows 7. I recently switched to a new mobo and Windows 8, and so far I haven't been able to get my mic to work either. It might be some rare compatibility issue.

It is your asus xonar card. By default it wants to send the sound to the front mic input:
