Micro ATX or Mini ITX Build Suggestions

I have new office and my 17" tower case is just too darn big for the build-in cabinets. So, I need to build something smaller.

I'm not a huge gamer (but I do play Civ VI) and need some Photoshop horsepower.

Would prefer a quiet case

Approximate Purchase Date: ASAP

Budget Range: $1000 & up

System Usage from Most to Least Important: General use, some gaming, definitely need to be able to use Photoshot

Right now it is difficult to recommend an Intel CPU. The current AMD Ryzen lineup is just too good and too cheap. Intel pricing is going up due to shortages which makes it even more difficult. The Ryzen 2600 is a steal and you can get it for a good price at Microcenter. Microcenter is great for CPUs and mobos, but you may find better deals on other components on line.

I also went with a M.2 SSD. M.2 is perfect for tight spaces on an mITX build. I just put in a SATA SSD, you could go with a NVMe drive, but they get pretty expensive and unless you are doing certain workloads, they wont make a big difference.

I threw in a RX 580. It is a sold midrange GPU. The 1060 is good too, but they are about the same in performance. So if you can get a 1060 6gb for cheaper, then go for it.

I would go with something like this. You dont need to spend 1k for your needs.

^ this is a good build I'd recommeng it as well. Mayne go for 3200Mhz of RAM and go for the 2600X model.

I have built a couple of Mini ITX Ryzen solutions and I would warn of a few things.
Many of your mini itx cases have either the PSU or the case itself very close to the CPU. Make sure that you consider room for the cooler, or a low profile aftermarket cooler.
Also, pay attention to the way you place the cooler fan as in some m-ITX forms the "AMD logo" part of the fan casing on stock fan will block RAM slots.
