I purchased a micro B - usb 3 lead which looked like the leads i got with my Lacie external HHDs

The manual states: " USB is a serial input/output technology for connecting peripheral devices to a computer. SuperSpeed USB 3.0 is the latest implementation of this standard,"

However the cable i got from ebay didnt work with the HDD at all.

The lead which came with the external HDD powers up the HDD when i plug it into the laptop USB 3 port. The one i got on ebay didnt. I tested it on another portable HDD and it connected fine so the lead does work.
Do i need to purchase a special kind of micro B - usb 3 lead to enable compatability with the lacie drive ?
