hey peeps,

got a gaming pc build question for you.

This is my situation. Im generally a console gamer. mainly because its just has the ease of buying the console, buying a game and start to play. thats the general idea.

but now i see that steam and the steam machine is starting to get a bit of traction in the gaming market. I wanted to see what i could get.

After doing some research, I've found if i want to buy a good gaming rig. I mite as well go and build it my self. getting more power for my money.

but as stated before. I'm more of a console gamer anyways. all my friends are so, thats just the way it is.

what im now looking in to is getting/making a micro pc for indie game titles.

can anyone give me any idea on what type of hardware i should look at?

I dont know if i want to go down the build route or just buy a micro pc like GIGABYTE BRIX ( not very good)

I'm not looking to play AAA games cuz ill have my console for that. but i want to make sure i get a pc that would handle all the indie games. 3d or 2d for the next 5 years (lets say) at 1080p high settings

thanks in advance

about £300

dont worry about OS or keyboard and mouse. it'll go through the tv.

one thing i forgot to mention. I did build a PC about a year ago to do the same thing. but found it was underpowered. it also had load of small problems that i wouldnt have expected. for example. i bought ori and the blind forest. but for some reason. it would slow down because my tv did have the right hrz or something.

this is what concerns me. pcs are great for tinkering. but someone like myself that just wants to turn it on. download a game and play it without playing around with the settings or being concerned that my lcd tv will have problems with the setup.

do you think i should just wait till something like the alienware comes down in price?

something like that would be perfect for me. its just a little out of my price range for the power id get out of it at the moment.

thats not really a good price to work with, actually, you wont have any better gaming experience with a 300 pound build vs a ps4 or xbox one.

Steam machines, or premade pc gaming boxes will always have that price premium because you're gonna need to pay for their build labor and services.
Waiting for something like alienware or razer products is really not a good idea, as those products are just for people who have money to splurge because they're just going to be paying for the name or brand. They really dont have anything better to offer than a cheap build computer.

IF you still want to have a pc that you can just turn on, and that would last you almost 3-5 years, you need to spend at least more than double your budget.
if you arent willing to spend that kind of money, it would be practical and easy to just continue with consoles because as much as i am a part of the pc master race(wannabe), consoles cant really be beaten for their experience at a cheap price.

Anything really just not laptop. Most games nowadays are made either unity or unreal engine (game engines) regardless if developer is full fledged company or some single person.

That being said, i have msi apache pro laptop that i paid high cash for and it probably can run any game without lags but thing is even on games like rust the laptop overheats to 80 degrees its insane man. even with both fans at 6000 RPM (loud as airplane engines)

Mind you my very old computer that my dad bought me about 20 years ago can run Rust just fine and even increase graphics.

So u dont have to care too much, as long as its pc, its fine
