micro sd card problems

couldnt get my 16gb sandisk to format via my computer or via phone connected to pc. had it for a couple of years so thought i'd just get a new one as they are cheap. got a PNY 16gb premium range 100mb/s etc...

still wont be formatted via pc or phone connected to pc.

WTF is going on?

Could very well be that the card has failed. Flash memory isn't as reliable as people think, and it fails very suddenly. Is it recognized at all when plugged in? Does it appear in drive management when connected to a Windows machine?

Yep pc recognises it - bring up formatting menu - tried quick and short format on both sd cards and always comes up with message "windows was unable to format the card".

2 cards - 1 brand new, both through the pc and via the phone. doesn't recognise any SD card memory when in the phone. and windows cannot format them.

it making me think there may be a setting on the pc i need to change - dont know enough about tech to know if thats the case
