Hi first time asking a question on this tomshardware
i have a problem with micro usb type b cables, i use them to connect my xbox one controller to my pc and the cables seem to be failing frequently not more than 3 months. i even plugged in some batteries for the controller.
I was wondering if the controller was pulling in too much power or my ports are faulty or the cables are not of good quality. Any thoughts guys before i buy another cable

When a cable doesn't work, if you remove it, reboot and then reattach it - does it then work?

It could potentially be a poor cable sending voltage back down the line to the port, and the port switching off the protect the system.

You say "both" ports..... assuming those are your front panel ports? What about using ports directly on the motherboard?

What are your system specs?

8gb DDR3 1066mhz

1tb WD blue
400W Psu
Palit gtx 1050

it doesen't work on the rear IO ports as well and re attaching results in usb device not recognized
