News Micron to get $6 billion from U.S. gov't to build memory fabs: Report

Much promised, any money paid out yet?
It’ll be a while till we see any of this come to fruition. Then there’s the matter of whether long term maintaining these operations will be cost effective. This could be a huge waste or it could create a high tech mfg renaissance. I have my doubts as government boons rarely translate to long term economic transformation. More like flash in the pan money spent in an in-optimal fashion. But then again we can’t be entirely reliant on APAC for foundries due to China/Russia being in region with Taiwan being a major point if contention with China, so what choice do we have?

It makes me sick to my stomach every time I see one of these reports, it just makes me think of all of these high paid lobbyists sitting back in their smoke filled rooms drinking expensive wines laughing cause they got the money.

Free money for billionaires - yep, need more of that!

It's just like, rub my nose in it some more.

Plus this being the USA (not that the UK is any different) what one side does the other side rarely follows though with.
