Microphone and AUX?

My headset microphone is not detected by my self build PC. I was wondering why this is and i need your help! I know the microphone is working because it works when i plug it into AUX on my laptop as an external microphone. There are also some plugs on the back of my motherboard but i'm thinking it should work on my front panel AUX as a mirophone on the headset?

Motherborad: ASUS Z97-AR, Socket-1150
OS: Windows 10
PC cabinet: CM Storm Trooper Gaming Big Tower

I know this might be stupid but have you made sure the connections are in the correct place?

Front panel AUX connectors dont work for me too. Did you see if they worked on the back panel connectors? Just to make sure the connectors are working at all?

maybe i could buy a splitter and connect it to the motherborad plugins
