[SOLVED] Microphone connection to computer bent

If it works I might not do anything.
You can try to carefully bend it back....but that metal can be brittle and you may snap it....in which case you will need to put another one on.
So...if it works...you may want to just leave it.
it really doesnt work no sound comes from it also how much would it cost to replace that part?

That's a very cheap part.
...but I don't think that the bend is causing it not to work UNLESS the bend is preventing it from going it all the way.
If it goes in all the way and still doesn't work....I think the problem is something else.

There are lots of ways you can put a new end on....see here.

well i did drop it quite alot but no way that that 1 drop that made it stop working caused the issue

Another thing that can happen that makes it stop working is the conductor in one of the wires breaks inside the insulation and you can't see it.

The break usually happens where the wire is bent a lot....so usually near the plug or near the headphones themselves....but mostly right at the plug.

i do remember dropping it accidently just before the break could that be the issue

Could be.

Plug it in and try moving the cable....shaking the cable...bending the cable etc. If you can get it to work even briefly..that tends to tell you it's the cable. The thing is...if that's what it is...you can't see the break because it's inside the insulation.

This tends to happen with headphones and mics that have been used a while.

welp
but what if its a different problem seems like a risk to just buy that out of the box
